About the Watercolors

I paint what I think is beautiful. I am mesmerized by color, movement and light and have a strong drive to personally interpret the beauty around me. My goal is to express my response to the natural world through brush stroke, texture, color, light and composition rather than control of photographic detail.

I want to maintain a balance between intuition and technique, but my goal is to  paint from my  heart. If I am successful, the process of painting connects me to to my community and the universe challenging me to go to a deeper place. Being an artist has forced me to really see the world around me and to commit to integrating the outer world with my inner world.

Whether it is a small eddy of a stream I’ve hiked along, flowers I’ve grown, or a mountain vista that has taken my breath away, it is exciting for me to communicate this beauty without words. The act of creation is a joy. And if I’m very lucky the painting takes on a life of its own and all the world is silent and at peace while I paint.
